Welcome to the 2011 5K Season

We would like to welcome everyone to the 2011 Mercer Health Countywide 5-K Challenge Running season.  The dates have bee set for this years races and we are currently in the process of getting these dates put into the website.  Please check back often for the latest news and information on what's to come for this season.

The calendar for showing events has changed this year as well.  Instead of having to go to a specific month, it is setup to show all races coming up for the 2011 racing season.  This should make it easier for you to review the dates of each race and get ready.  Please keep in mind this page will show all races going on in 2011.  Only the races marked as a Mercer Health Countywide 5-K Challenge Event will earn you points.  All other races are good events to help support the local community and to get yourself ready for challenge events.  Please let us know if you have any questions. www.mercerhealth5kchallenge.com

This nationally known speedway is located on State Route 118, just 12 miles south of Coldwater, Ohio. Grand Lake Mariners Collegiate Baseball
Each summer the local team takes to the home field in Westview Park on Fairground Road in Celina, Ohio. Throughout June and July the Mariners participate in a top-notch college league where future professional players hone their skills. Bicycle and Walking Paths

Celina-Coldwater Bike Path
This path is a 4.5 mile long, 10 foot wide path on an old railroad bed. The path is perfect for biking, walking or running between Celina and Coldwater (see map for routing).

Route 703 Bike Path
This stretch on State Route 703 between Celina and St. Marys is for the experienced rider as the rider cycles along side sometimes heavy traffic. The path is approximately 9 miles long.

East Bank Path

This 2 mile paved stretch is along the east bank of Grand Lake St. Marys and is

great for biking, walking, running, skating and has a full view of the lake.

Franklin Township Greenway Trail

This 5 5 mile, continuous, non-motorized, paved walking trail is located on the south side of Grand Lake St Marys It not only meanders through a 100-acre wildlife preservation area with an observation desk overlooking two wetlands, but also traverses two covered bridges along the scenic route

Miami-Erie Canal Path

You can hike for miles along this historic trail.  The trail is accessible at 158 High

St., St. Marys, OH (parking available).  A great place to walk and enjoy nature's beauty.

Miami & Erie Canal Visitors Center

Built as a replica of the Lockkeepers House that stood on the site for nearly 100 years, the Miami & Erie Canal Visitors Center is a great place to begin your visit to the canal.   The visitors center features displays, photos and other information about the canal, its construction and the impact it had on the development of western Ohio. It is located adjacent to Lock One Park in downtown New Bremen.  It is handicap accessible wi/ public restrooms. Open weekdays from 9-11am & 1-5pm. 

West Bank Trail

This 7,000 foot paved trail is accessible on the west bank of Grand Lake St. Marys

south of the State Boat Docks on West Bank Rd., Celina, OH.  This trail meanders along the lake and into a wooded area.  The non-motorized trail is great for biking,

walking and skating.
