Information Update!

Mercer County is getting ready for the upcoming running season and Mercer Health is proud to be a part of it! Every 5K race in Mercer County is included in this year’s Mercer Health 5K Challenge. A web site about all of the races can be found at www.mercerhealth5kchallenge.com Here you’ll find registration sheets, updated information about the Mercer Health 5K Challenge and an ongoing listing of the standings as the season progresses.

In addition, the economic impact of these races on the communities throughout the county is pretty impressive. A mailing to over 1400 participants from last year’s races has just gone out. Organizers are hoping to increase these numbers this year. For more information about the Mercer Health 5K Challenge, visit the web site or contact Steve Schmidt at 419-586-6555.

Godspell – is a musical based on the Gospel according to  St. Matthew. Genesis, Matthew and Luke to be more specific.  From the moment the audience hears the voice crying out from the wilderness to Prepare Ye the Way of the Lord – the Praise and Worship service begins as the Parables we have learned from childhood are reveled, explained, and accepted. The reenactment of the Last Supper and Crucifixion are considered some of the most touching moments delivered through musical theatre. Led by Stephen Swartz’ incredible songs; Day By Day is probably the hit best remembered from the show which first premiered in 1971.  It’s another telling of the Greatest Story Ever Told – presented this July 18, 19, 25 &26th by the Young Actors of Grand Lake Theatrix.  Auditions are May 18th, at 105 West Spring Street at 3pm; tickets go on sale the same day and are $12.00 each.  The performances include a hor'd'ourves buffet at intermission.  For more information, call 419-953-7612, or visit www.grandlaketheatrix.com

Shawn Sharp, an association member and one of the organizers, told Minster councilors Tuesday night the planning phase has taken nearly two years with everything falling into place over the course of recent months.  Organizers have been working with a Cincinnati distributor and whittling down 625 available varieties to just 75 including imports, microbrews and crafts. Roughly one-third of the offerings will be German. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Civic Association's various philanthropic projects including the community, local schools, the fire department, Minster Area Life Scouts and local Scout troops.
