THE WORLD’S LONGEST YARD SALES RETURNS TO OHIO

 

Plans are again underway to bring the “World’s Longest Yard Sale” back to the

Buckeye State for the 21st anniversary of the event. This year, every county

along US 127 in Ohio will participate. From the tiny village of Fayette in northern

Ohio to the thriving metropolis of Hamilton near the Ohio River, the entire route

encompasses nearly 700 miles ending in Gadsden, Alabama.  Scheduled for

August 7 -10, 2008 representatives from Fulton, Williams, Defiance, Paulding,

Van Wert, Mercer, Darke, Preble, Butler and Hamilton Counties will promote the

event to increase awareness and visitation to their communities.  Organizers have

created a promotional flyer with the assistance of Niekamp’s Flea and Farm Market

located on US127 in Mercer County. The brochure will be distributed at Visitors

Centers and Chamber Offices along the route, at the Tourist Information Centers

across Ohio, as well as at area fairs and festivals this summer.

BLUESFEST “KICK-START”
The annual Labor Day weekend Riverside Bluesfest in St. Marys warms up with a party

in K.C. Geiger Park Friday evening before Bluesfest. Gates open at 6:00 pm and blues

music starts an hour later with Big Worm and the Nightcrawlers and Lady Bird and the

Dirty Dirty Earthworms. The Jon Justice Band closes the show from 9:30 to 11:00 pm.

Lots of food and drink will be on hand in the Riverside food court. Free parking,

$3.00 cover charge, all ages. The Bluesfest “Kick-Start” and the Riverside Bluesfest

are held on Labor Day weekend at Riverside inside K.C. Geiger Park in St. Marys, Ohio.

2008 RIVERSIDE BLUESFEST
Presented by St. Marys Eagles Aerie 767 and the New Bremen Blues Guild.
The area's best outdoor blues festival features an expanded roster in
2008 with six bands slated for Saturday's Riverside Bluesfest show at K.C. Geiger Park in

St. Marys. Elvin Bishop headlines an all-star blues lineup including Ana Popovic, Stacy

Mitchhart (with his Blues U Can Use Band), Sonny Boy Terry and The Jimi Vincent Band.

Leading off at noon are the 2008 Blues Challenge winners, No Right Turn, from Lima,

Ohio. Bring a chair or blanket; lawn and hillside seating only, all general admission.

Gates and vendors open at 11:00 am. Tickets are $20 day of the show, children 12

and under are admitted free when accompanied by an adult. Free parking is available

in downtown St. Marys a short walk away along the Miami-Erie Canal towpath; paid

FRYBURG HOMECOMING

The St. John Catholic Church Fryburg Homecoming is scheduled for

Sunday, August 31, 2008 from 4PM - 11:30PM on the church grounds at 11319 Van Buren

Street (Fryburg), Wapakoneta, OH  45895.  The Homecoming is a Parish Festival with lots

of food, Kiddie Tractor Pull, hourly attendance drawings, hog raffle, rides, games, Bingo,

cash raffle prizes and fun for the entire family.   We are famous for our mock turtle soup,

chicken noodle soup, and home made pies. Please contact 419-738-6043.

Celina Concert Series 2008

Come out to Lakeshore Park in Celina and enjoy the Summer Concert 2008 Series. 

All concerts will start at 6:30pm on Sundays from June 1-August 31.
